At Sunrise Wellness, we provide individual, couples, and family therapy for clients ages 3 and up, supporting every stage of life—from early childhood through retirement. Whether you’re preparing for marriage, welcoming a new baby, navigating adolescence, adjusting to a career change, or facing major life transitions, we understand how overwhelming these moments can feel.
Our team partners closely with each individual, couple, or family to define clear, meaningful goals and create a personalized path forward. We may incorporate between-session exercises to reinforce growth and build lasting skills.
We use a wide range of evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, family systems and structural therapy, solution-focused therapy, brainspotting, and EMDR, among others. For younger clients, we incorporate play therapy to support healthy emotional expression and development.
In addition to therapeutic work, we help clients strengthen communication skills—whether preparing for difficult conversations or improving daily interactions. Throughout the process, we prioritize confidentiality and create a safe, supportive environment where every member of the family system feels respected and heard.
At Sunrise Wellness, we specialize in supporting individuals, families, and first responders who have experienced significant stress or trauma—whether from a single incident or ongoing, cumulative experiences over time.
Our clinicians are highly trained in identifying and treating a wide range of trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect, relationship challenges, and adult experiences of loss, stress, or adversity. We utilize established assessment tools, such as the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) scale and PTSD screenings, to better understand each client’s history and guide effective treatment.
We offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based trauma therapies, including EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused Emotionally Focused Therapy (TF-EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Each approach is carefully selected and tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual.
Our work goes beyond symptom relief. We focus on building practical coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and fostering resilience. By addressing the lasting impact of stress and trauma, we help clients move toward healing, growth, and a renewed sense of control in their lives.
At Sunrise Wellness, our therapists incorporate yoga, movement, and mindfulness-based techniques to support both the mental and physical aspects of healing. These approaches are seamlessly integrated into therapy sessions to help regulate stress, increase body awareness, and promote emotional balance. Clients may also engage in experiential mindfulness practices, such as guided walks along the Mississippi River near our Otsego office, or use tools like essential oils for grounding and relaxation. We also provide practical resources to support continued progress between sessions.
Extensive research supports yoga and mindfulness as effective complementary therapies for reducing anxiety, managing stress, and treating trauma. These practices help build resilience, improve mood regulation, and foster a greater sense of control through breathwork, present-moment awareness, and increased self-connection.
Andrea Hendel, founder of Sunrise Wellness, is a licensed 200-hour yoga instructor, certified in trauma-informed yoga through Yoga for Trauma (Y4T), and a certified Yoga for First Responders (YFFR) instructor. Andrea also offers specialized yoga and mindfulness classes for police and fire departments, bringing targeted wellness practices directly to those who serve.
Pete has a natural ability to connect with clients and especially enjoys joining them for mindful walks during sessions. The presence of animals can be incredibly calming, fostering a sense of comfort and trust. This unique connection can enhance the therapeutic experience, supporting emotional regulation and creating a more relaxed, engaging path toward healing.
At Sunrise Wellness, our Child and Adolescent Therapists use age-appropriate, developmentally informed strategies to support children and teens ages 3–18 at our Isanti and Otsego clinics. Therapy is designed to be engaging and accessible, combining conversation, skill-building, and emotional processing with creative approaches such as books, games, art, and play. These methods, grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), help young clients express themselves, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills.

Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where children and adolescents can grow, heal, and thrive—while equipping families with the tools they need to support lasting success.
At Sunrise Wellness, our clinicians in Otsego, Bloomington, and Isanti specialize in working with adolescents and young adults ages 10–25. We offer a range of evidence-based interventions while maintaining developmentally appropriate confidentiality to support trust and meaningful progress.
The teenage and young adult years can be complex and challenging. Adolescents often face peer pressure, academic demands, emotional and physical changes, and questions of identity. At the same time, families may notice shifts in connection, increased isolation, or uncertainty about how best to offer support. Young adults, meanwhile, are navigating the transition from family dependence to independence while continuing to build essential life skills.
Our approach is centered on supporting teens and young adults through these transitions with understanding, respect, and practical tools for growth. We also recognize the important role of caregivers and, when appropriate, collaborate with families to strengthen communication, connection, and support systems—helping foster healthy development and long-term success.
At Sunrise Wellness, several of our mental health therapists are also Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC), and many others have specialized training and experience in substance use and addiction treatment. We understand that substance use disorders affect every area of life—including mental and physical health, relationships, finances, and future goals.
What may begin as recreational use or a way to cope with stress or trauma can develop into patterns that are difficult to break. Our therapists work collaboratively with clients to better understand the underlying factors contributing to substance use, including past trauma, emotional distress, and life challenges.
Through a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach, we help clients process these experiences, build resilience and self-worth, and develop healthier coping strategies. Our goal is to support lasting recovery by addressing both the addiction and the root causes—empowering individuals to regain control and move forward with clarity and purpose.
Sunrise Wellness offers comprehensive psychological testing for individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults. Assessments may focus on memory, cognitive functioning, personality, and emotional well-being to help provide a clearer understanding of each individual’s needs.
If you or a family member are feeling stuck or facing concerns that are difficult to navigate, our testing services can offer valuable insight. We provide accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment recommendations to help you make informed next steps toward better mental health and overall functioning.
Are you experiencing increased stress on the job as a first responder—or finding it difficult to manage emotions at home or work? You’re not alone, and support is available.
